“Blacklist” 9-29-2014 Episode Recap: “Monarch Douglas Bank”
The “Blacklist” episode began in Warsaw, Poland with a bank robbery. The robbers were dressed like sophisticated meth cookers. While they weren’t cooking meth, the bank robbers were trying to pull a fast one by dressing that way. The bank they robbed happened to be the episode title: “Monarch Douglas Bank”.
There were five people that went into the bank. Six people came out. The robbers took an employee with them. It was a woman known as “The Formula”. She has total recall memory. That means she vividly remembers everything she encounters in her life. This includes bank account numbers, “The Formula” is used by Monarch Douglas Bank as a means to keep paperless records of all account holders.
The character Berlin happens to be an account holder at “Monarch Douglas Bank”. Monarch Douglas Bank happens to have a special bank charter, allowing agents Keen, and Ressler to have jurisdiction. Both agent Keen and Ressler travel to Warsaw, Poland. You see where this is going, they are setting the two up to fall in love. I know the show is very surprising and completely unpredictable, but I have a feeling “The Blacklist” producers are taking the plot there.
Ressler is jacked up on meds know. He is chemically dependent while he mourns the loss of his wife. Keen will be the medicine his soul needs. As corny as that sounds, you know it’s true.
Anyways that chick who on “The Blacklist” named “The Formula” turns out to be a prisoner of “Monarch Douglas Bank”. Her total recall memory is too valuable for the bank to lose. To prevent that from occurring, the bank has essentially imprisoned the woman. She lived on complete lockdown, with cameras in her apartment, and guards on her at all times.
Of course Reddington has to step in. To make the plot interesting, Berlin kidnaps Reddington’s wife. Yes he has a wife whose named, Naomi Highland and is played by Mary-Louise Parker. To have leverage, Reddington intervenes in the bank robbery. Red plays Ressler and Keen into giving him the banker chick.
Once he has “The formula”, chick Red tells Berlin that it’s on. All she had to do was spit it out. They have a bro-down stare down match on coney island. Reddington has the leverage of the bank accounts, which he drained and is conveniently holding in escrow. The deal ad you probably guessed, was to swap Red’s wife for Berlin’s cash.
Lizzy gets involved and freezes the money so Raymond can’t give Berlin his money. Which of course she reverses as the exchange goes down. Raymond got his wife back, but we didn’t see them together yet. That will begin on next week’s “Blacklist” episode.
One last thing, back to the point of agent Keen falling in love with agent Ressler on the “Blacklist”. The episode ended with Keen putting her hand on his shoulder. After Keen left, Ressler went to take a pill, but didn’t. Agent Keen is already starting to have a positive impact. You do agree they are setting the plot up right.
