Last year Miley Cyrus stood out at the VMAs for her twerking antics. Although she didn’t perform–this year Miley Cyrus accepted her VMA on behalf of homeless youth. The pop sensation won the Moonman for video of the year, for the her song “Wrecking Ball”.
As it was announced Miley walked towards the stage with her friend Jesse an advocate for homeless youth. Halfway towards the stage, Miley told Jesse he could handle the acceptance speech without her, and sat back down.
As soon as Jesse grabbed the mic he said:
“I am accepting this award on behalf of the 1.6 million runaways and homeless youth in the United States who are starving and lost and scared for their lives,” he said. “I know, because I am one of those people.”
Last year Miley Cyrus was the center of attention for twerking. All eyes were on her this year, and she knew it. Miley Cyrus accepted her VMA for homeless youth, and broke down into tears. You could tell she was passionate about the cause.
