Las Vegas, Nevada — Boxing fans filled the arena at MGM, to see boxing champ Floyd Mayweather defend his winning streak against Marcos Maidana. Boxing fans definitely got to see a fight. It came down to the judge’s decision.
Boxing icon Floyd Mayweather remains continues his undefeated winning streak. Contender Marcos Maidanawas hyped to be the force that dethroned Mayweather (at least some people thought). That’s also the purpose of promoting a boxing match.
Maidana was said to be the fighter to end the Floyd Mayweather winning streak. While that wasn’t the case, Marcos Maidana may have been one of the most enduring matches for Mayweather, depending on who you asked. That still doesn’t say much as Mayweather was favored 12-0.
After the fight at MGM in Las Vegas, Mayweather recognized and acknowledged his opponent’s effort.
Maidana didn’t reciprocate the recognition, and stated he wants a rematch. Boxing champ Floyd Mayweather is set to have another fight in September. Maybe we will see a rematch.
Marcos Maidana said
“I definitely think I won. Floyd has never been hit by a man before.”
That’s great that he hit Mayweather hard. It’s also extremely one dimensional in thinking.
Mayweather did face an opponent that ran him through the ring much longer than he’s used to. The decision was extremely close. Maidana’s hard hitting may possibly have worked against him. From the get go, he let his rampant roaring out. He may have been so determined on a knockout, that it worked against him. Just like a home run hitter, if you always swing for the fences you will strike out.
Mayweather stated he was open to a rematch. We will see what happens in September.
