Last night’s 65th Annual Emmy Award’s Show was full of surprises and disappointment. Surprising that people won that weren’t even on anyone’s radar, and disappointment in that the top runners for several categories lost. Breaking Bad’s lead actor, Bryan Cranston, was a sure bet for winning Best Lead Actor in a Drama Series, but surprisingly was beat out by HBO’s Newsroom’s Jeff Daniels. Jeff even addressed his surprise during his acceptance speech. Here are some of the winners discussing their thoughts on their win and opening up to the press.
Michael Douglas’ performance in Behind the Candelabra won, which was no surprise, but what was a surprise, was his Emmy acceptance speech, where he made some sexual innuendo references to co-star Matt Damon, that actually made the crowd burt into laughter. You know Michael Douglas isn’t afraid to “go there”, this is the guy that made reference to his throat cancer by saying it was caused by too much oral sex….oh yes, he did.
Modern Family of course, was a big winner, like always and like predicted. Shocking was Kerry Washington who fell short of winning, as did AMC’s Mad Men. Luckily Breaking Bad did walk away with best drama series and Anna Gunn won best supporting actress in her role as Skylar White.
