Arizona running back Jonathan Dwyer was arrested on Wednesday September 17, 2014. Dwyer was arrested on charges of of aggravated assault. The arrest was a result of two incidents involving the Cardinal’s running back. The allegations come from incidents that happened on July 21, 2014; and July 22, 2014.
The allegations involve the wife and daughter of Jonathan Dwyer. He was officially booked on a single count of aggravated assault causing a fracture, one count of aggravated assault involving a minor, two counts of criminal damage, a single count of preventing the use of a phone in an emergency, and assault.
Jonathan Dwyer admitted to the alleged incidents occurred while questioned. However he denied any physical violence. How can you partially admit to something like this? Dwyer was placed in jail with a $25,000 bail, which was posted, as he is no longer in the Maricopa County Jail.
According to the Arizona Cardinals, Jonathan Dwyer’s arrest is the first they have heard of the allegations. The Cardinals released the following statement:
“Given the serious nature of the allegations we have taken the immediate step to deactivate Jonathan from all team activities. We will continue to closely monitor this as it develops and evaluate additional information as it becomes available.”
Jonathan Dwyer is currently inactive on the Cardinal’s roster. Is it a coincidence all these incidents involving athletes and unacceptable acts of violence are happening at the same time? Or is it to the point where they are no longer being protected from the media?
