With the 2014 VMAs happening Sunday August 24, 2014-one question is on everyone’s mind, Miley vs. Nicki Minaj? Who will top Miley Cyrus’ twerking performance with Robin Thicke at last years show? Word on the street is that Nicki Minaj will not only blow Miley Cyrus’ 2013 VMA performance away, she will shock and awe with what she has planned. So who are you betting on for the 2014 VMAs in the Miley vs. Nicki Minaj feud? Minaj has been all over the headlines since her Anaconda video broke records with over 25 million views on the first day, beating out Miley Cyrus’ previous record with Wrecking Ball.
The two singers are known to not really like each other, after Miley spoofed one of Nicki Minaj’s pictures by posing just like it, trying to dis the Anaconda singer. So all eyes will be on Miley Cyrus at the 2014 VMAs to see how she handles being a spectator, and not a performer, and to see which pop diva wins the Miley vs. Nicki Minaj racy performance battle. Looks like there might be a few celebrity feuds at the 2014 VMAs. Not only will all eyes be on Miley and Nicki Minaj, also Minaj will be face to face with “Fancy” singer Iggy Izalea after she famously dissed her at the 2014 BET Awards earlier this year. Will there be a cat fight, or will the pop divas keep their cool?
Beyonce Will Make VMA History
Also, Beyonce is said to be performing at the 2014 VMAs, despite rumors that her marriage to Jay Z is on the rocks. Beyonce may even be going to the 2014 VMAs without rapper mogul husband Jay Z, because rumor has it that Jay Z hasn’t RSVP’d to the 2014 VMAs, which is required by MTV. Beyonce did in fact send in her RSVP to the 2014 VMAs and will be seated in the front row close to Ariana Grande and Minaj, but still no word on Jay Z. And supposedly, Beyonce has a big surprise planned for her performance at the 2014 VMAs, a surprise that is rumored to be an MTV VMA first.
“There are the planned surprises — planned by us, but a surprise to the audience, which oftentimes is two people performing together who you didn’t know until the show started, or something like that. And then, of course, there are the unplanned surprises, which are often very, very fun and we all remember them,” David Sirulnick told Billboard magazine on Thursday during a press preview of the VMA stage at Inglewood, Calif.’s newly renovated Forum.
The list of nominees for the 2014 VMAs is an impressive one, with Beyonce leading with eight nominations at the 2014 VMAs, including video of the year for “Drunk in Love,” featuring Jay Z. She’s also receiving the VMA Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award, a lifetime achievement honor also given to Madonna and Britney Spears.
But Beyonce isn’t the only contender up for moonmen this Sunday. Rappers Iggy Azalea and Eminem are each nominated for seven awards. Otter nominees include OK Go, Katy Perry, Pharrell Williams and Linkin Park.

The 2014 VMAs will be a star studded event packed with live performances including Nicki Minaj, Ariana Grande and Jessie J performing their single “Bang Bang.” Also performing is Usher, 5 Seconds of Summer, Maroon 5, Taylor Swift and Sam Smith. Azeala will perform her single “Black Widow” with Rita Ora. The list of presenters is just as impressive and includes No Doubt lead singer and new mom Gwen Stefani, Kim Kardashian, Demi Lovato, Lorde, Taylor Schilling, Laverne Cox, Uzo Aduba, Dylan O’Brien, Nina Dobrev, Jason Derulo and Trey Songz.
